Iowa
State Electrical Licensing Requirements
Iowa has reciprocal journeyman and master electrician licensing agreement s with Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota. The applicant must have passed a State-sponsored examination, held the qualifying license for one year and must meet Iowa licensure requirements in order for the license to qualify for reciprocation.
Reciprocity
Reciprocal Journeyman Licenses:
- South Dakota Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to a South Dakota Journeyman license.
- Minnesota Class A Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to a Minnesota Class A Journeyman license.
- Nebraska Journeyman license may reciprocate to an Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Journeyman Class A license may reciprocate to a Nebraska Journeyman license.
Reciprocal Master or Electrical Contractor Licenses:
- South Dakota Electrical Contractor license may reciprocate to an Iowa Master Class A license, or an Iowa Master Class A license may reciprocate to a South Dakota Electrical Contractor license.
- Minnesota Class A Master license may reciprocate to an Iowa Master C lass A license, or an Iowa Master Class A license may reciprocate to a Minnesota Class A Master license.
- Nebraska Electrical Contractor license may reciprocate to a n Iowa Journeyman Class A license, or an Iowa Master Class A license may reciprocate to a Nebraska Journeyman license.
